We all know about the fairy tale of the ugly duckling that transforms into a beautiful swan; at a residence in Camberwell, the fairy tale become a reality for Andrew and Sue Turner.
When Andrew and Sue came to Cameron Construction to see what potential could be unleashed from the home, they, even with their dreams, could not have been prepared for the incredible transformation about to take place on their home.
With an eye for detail and a sympathetic ear, Cameron Construction carefully put Andrew and Sue’s ideas to paper. Three months later Cameron Construction successfully completed an exciting renovation without inconvenience or incident.
The results speak for themselves. A functional extension of almost 10 square metres, incorporating a large family room, feature meals alcove, kitchen, three bedrooms with built-in robes, a new bathroom with a claw foot bath and period fittings, and a new laundry.
The renovation to the original home included an en suite with spa bath to the master bedroom, a study, and removal of a wall to create a formal lounge meals area to complete the transformation. Extensive glass windows in the family room and a hexagonal meals alcove overlook the raised timber decking which was created for use as an outdoor entertainment area.
The final colour scheme selected by Sue brought together the old with the new, providing the charm and grace of the original 100-year-old home throughout. Sue had rescued the original brass front door bell and door fittings to further accentuate the classic character of their home.
Single storey extensions can be just as tough as multi-storey extensions, but this project was achieved by the professional team at Cameron Construction working together with the owners Sue and Andrew Turner to create a stylish and totally functional environment for their family to enjoy for years to come.
